Social and Emotional Well-being
Sometimes its difficult to understand our own social and emotional wellbeing because there are so many parts involved, working together! Let's break it down and have a look at the different parts: 1. Connection to body 2. Connection to mind and emotions 3. Connection to family 4. Connection to community 5. Connection to culture 6. Connection to country 7. Connection to spirit All of these things work together to make up your social and emotional wellbeing. Some people find it easy to think about it like a wheel. You can see the different parts of the wheel in the picture above. The centre of the wheel is you the 'Self' which connects everything together. When everything is working together, the wheel turns and the 'Self' is stable in the middle. The many sections making up your social and emotional well-being are different parts of your life. These different parts can be understood like spokes in the wheel. They protect the inside of the wheel. If something gets stuck in one of the spokes, the whole wheel will be impacted! Just like sometimes if something is happening at home, or if you’re feeling really sick, all the other parts of your life can start feeling bad. These things that happen are sometimes things you can’t control and this means that the wheel can’t turn as fast as it wants to. If something happens that you can’t control, sometimes it makes everything seem too hard! This is when you need to reach out and talk to someone. If you need to talk to someone today, visit the: 'How do I know When I Need to Talk to Someone' section.
